Oil prices slide below $40
Middle East
Crude oil prices have slumped below $40 on Friday, the lowest levels in nearly four years, AFP has reported. Brent North Sea crude slid to $39.50 a barrel, the lowest level since the January 2005. The International Energy Agency has lowered its projections for global oil demand in 2008-2013, foreseeing annual growth of 1.2% rather than 1.6% in the face of a worldwide economic slump.
